We run trips ranging from one to four days, for up to six people. Larger groups can be organised but require prior arrangement.
For our self-catered trips you need to take your own food and equipment with you, however for those travelling light you can hire a tent and other necessary items from us.
A motorboat transfer during times of high water (or 4x4 during times of low water) of one hour will start and end your trip taking you out by 8 a.m. and getting you back by 5 p.m.
Your days will be spent with your guide gliding silently down waterways, chilling in camp during the mid-day heat and taking early morning and late afternoon game-viewing walks.
Your nights spent camping at the fire-side on islands immersed in the wild sounds of African nights.
You are not obliged to take food for your guide / poler but it would be a nice gesture to share with him, as he will be sharing his wonderful garden with you.We also send a little extra for your guides.

Our fully catered mokoro trips include all camping equipment, a cook/camphand, meals, bottled water, fruit juice (for breakfast), wine (for dinner) and extra mekoro (pl.) for equipment.

Okavango Air Rescue - Emergency Evacuation Service
The Old Bridge Backpackers is pleased to team up with OAR which operates a Helicopter for Emergency Evacuations. The current radius of operation is Northern Botswana and the Central Kalahari. We recommend that anyone going on trips with us consider contacting them for coverage.
OAR is based in Maun and transports medical assistance to its Patrons by Helicopter in the event of a medical emergency. Professional staff on board will treat and stabilize you at the scene of the accident or incident. Patrons will then be flown to the nearest appropriate location or medical facility from where further arrangements will be made.
If you're a foreign visitor, you can become a patron of OAR for currently 175 Pula / year [roughly 20 USD]. OAR is a private organization financed by the annual contributions of its Patrons. Each contribution entitles its Patrons, travelling within OAR's range of operation, to one free, medically necessitated air rescue per year. The contribution is not an insurance premium, but is a payment that assists to keep the Helicopter airborne.
